Lunarline is seeking a Network Security Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and deployment of a cutting edge Government-wide cyber protection system.  You will be involved from the beginning in helping to implement an MTIPS system that will protect US government agencies from growing and evolving cyber threats.  This position is part of a larger team; however, the candidate is expected to work well on his or her own under general supervision, be self-directed, able to multi-task, and prioritize work.
This position requires occasional CONUS travel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior engineers who will lead the effort, mentor the team, and provide guidance in training and new technologies.
  • Participate in the accreditation process to ensure that the system meets federal IT security standards.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have a Top Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
  • Must have 5 or more years of professional experience
  • Thorough understanding of network architecture fundamentals, protocols, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and the security implications of different configuration choices
  • Knowledge of network configurations and security (TCP/IP stacks, switch/router configuration, and routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and VRF)
  • Experience with WAN connectivity such as MPLS VPN, Multi-honed Internet and Metro Ethernet
  • Experience with enterprise firewalls, IDS/IPS and or SIEM systems
  • Knowledge of security appliances that inspect email, SSL, DNS and URLs
  • Experience with VPN technologies such as IPSEC, SSL and remote access

  • Experience with any of the following vendor equipment: Cisco Routers/Switches/UCS, Blue Coat Proxy, FireEye Malware Protection, Gigamon Traffic Aggregator, NetScout Packet Capture, HP ArcSight, InfoBlox DNS Firewall
  • Experience with firewall policies, security standards, and managing rulesets
  • Troubleshooting experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and proxies, including network captures and log analysis
  • Experience with network vulnerability testing and penetration testing tools (e.g., Kali Linux)
  • Experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, bash/ksh/sh) and test automation
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux integration, troubleshooting, deployment and administration
  • Understanding of load balancer integration
  • Experience with the standards compliance process (e.g., NIST) and writing network security documentation
  • Familiarity with cloud network architectures and computing
  • Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN)


  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience


  • The following certifications (more than one is preferred): Lunarline, Inc. School of Cybersecurity “Certified Expert” certifications.
