Junior Firewall Engineer

Lunarline is looking for a Junior Firewall Engineer to ensure the security of our infrastructure and maintain our customers trust and loyalty. In this role, you will be responsible for managing our firewall systems by validating, testing, and managing firewall rules, and researching problems and recommending solutions to improve firewall security.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Author tools and scripts to be used by others to automate repeatable production tasks in standard languages like python, ruby, bash, csh or batch
  • Implement existing base standards for new systems and/or applications, such as: site, system, application monitoring and instrumentation
  • Independently resolve moderately to highly complex system and application incidents
  • Demonstrate exceptional troubleshooting methodology
  • Plan and implement secure networking practices like application segmentation, network segmentation, NAC and other access control testing/validation, and updating access control SOPs
  • 1+ years of experience as a security system engineer implementing, administering, and supporting production platforms, backend support systems, incident response, application security, network security, security operations or network engineering
  • Experience with the following tools: FireEye, CounterACT, OMS, and/or Fortinet
  • Experienced with firewall operations and review of existing firewall rules for compliance, efficiency and accuracy
  • Experience with Change Control Boards and Change Request procedures
  • Experience with DMZs, LAN and WAN operations, and federal regulations related to network security
  • Understand internet technologies and network protocols, including HTTP, basic load balancing configurations, VRF, security zones, VIPs, etc.
  • Skills in at least one programming language such as Python, Ruby, Java or C#
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively based on the audience
Minimum Education and Certifications
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • The following certifications (more than one is preferred): Lunarline, Inc. School of Cybersecurity “Certified Expert”, CCNA, CCSP, CISSP, Security+ Linux+, or Network+ certifications.
