SOC Analyst Intern

The SOC Analyst Intern is assigned to the Security Operations Center, as part of the Managed Security Technical Division.  The intern will work in a 24x7 fast-paced and exciting environment that monitors client data.  This includes learning how to actively watch logs and output from a Security Incident Event Monitor application, performing analytics and intelligence gathering, continuously learning new zero-day exploits and threat vectors, and learning incident response support when analysis confirms actionable events.  Additionally, interns may be asked to learn associated InfoSec and IT tasks such as Cyber Hunt (deep web intelligence gathering), remote support (helpdesk), and other administrative duties as assigned. Throughout all tasking, the intern will gain valuable experience, as well as knowledge to assist them with obtaining industry certifications.
 
Preferred Major (any flavor of):
  • Information Security
  • Secure System Administration
  • Cyber Investigation
  • Cyber Forensics
 
Preferred school years:
  • Junior or Senior
 
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Coursework in networking
  • Knowledge of multiple OSs with experience at the command line
  • At least 1 programming class or otherwise have knowledge of any programming or scripting language. (C++, Python, assembly). 
  • Bonus points for knowing the OSI 7 layer model, ability to list 10 common TCP/UDP ports, and experience running a homelab.
 
Tools that will be used:
  • FortiSIEM, Nessus, Metasploit, Burp Suite, Fortigate Firewalls, Cisco ASA Firewalls, CentOS, Ubuntu, Windows Server 2012 R2, Visio, Moodle, PuTTY, etc.
 
 Minimum GPA:
  • 3.2 but flexible if able to meet requirements above
